HOW TO PLAY SEAT SCOOT
1.Each student has a copy of the record sheet and a pencil. If desired, students can use a clipboard as well.
2.Place one scoot card on each desk. I have provided 20 cards per game, make extra copies if you need more.
3.At the teacher’s special signal {a song, a phrase, or a signal} students take their recording sheet and “seat scoot” or move/dance to another seat.
4.Students answer the new problem at the new seat!
5.It is very important that students know NOT to go back to a seat that they have already been. Otherwise they will be solving the same problem twice.
OTHER WAYS TO PLAY SEAT SCOOT
•Place the scoot cards around the classroom. Have your students use a clipboard to travel around the room with their response sheet from task card to task card until they find and answer each one.
•You can also use these task cards to provide extra guided practice during math small groups.
•For whole group instruction: you can project the task cards using your SMART board or Mimio. Your students can write their answers using the answer sheets or dry erase boards. If you use dry erase boards, this is a perfect activity to conduct formative assessment!
This is a MOST perfect addition to any of your BUILD Math Centers!
